KinNoKi Labs doesn't collect your data. This page spells out exactly what our apps do and don't do with it.

Data Collection

Our applications (including Echo, MacroMark, NS Marks The Spot, Turn Timer, and Routey) do not collect or sell your personal data, and never send it to us — we have no servers. The only data that ever leaves your device goes to Apple's own services (iCloud sync, and Echo's geocoding lookup), both described below. We do not use third-party analytics trackers or advertising frameworks.

iCloud Sync

Some of our apps use Apple’s iCloud to sync your data across your personal devices. This data is stored securely in your private iCloud account. We do not have access to this data, nor can we view or manage it. All iCloud synchronization is handled exclusively by Apple's services according to their privacy policies.

Location (Echo's Context Memory)

Echo includes an opt-in feature called Context Memory that can tag your listening sessions, bookmarks, and chapter starts with an approximate place name. It is governed by strict rules:

• Off by default. Echo never accesses location unless you explicitly enable the feature in Settings.
• Approximate by design. Echo requests reduced-accuracy (neighborhood-level) location only — it never knows your precise position.
• Stored on your device. Your session location history is never synced or transmitted anywhere — not even to your own iCloud. Place names attached to bookmarks sync with those bookmarks through your personal iCloud only while the feature is enabled.
• Deletable in one tap. "Delete Location History" in Echo's settings permanently erases every captured place.
• One honest footnote: converting coordinates into a readable name (e.g., "Maple Ridge, Halifax") uses Apple's standard geocoding service, governed by Apple's privacy policy. Echo caches results locally to keep such lookups rare. We never see them — we have no servers to see them with.

On-Device Statistics

Echo's Insights feature (listening time, streaks, review statistics) is computed entirely on your device, from your own local history, for your eyes only. It is not analytics — no one but you can see it.

Local Storage

Any data generated by our apps that is not synced via iCloud is stored locally on your device. We cannot access this information.

This Website

kinnokilabs.com is a static site with no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. Some pages keep small amounts of data in your own browser so they work offline and remember where you were. None of it is sent to us, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it.

• Theme and font: The dark/light theme and OpenDyslexic font toggles are remembered in that browser.
• Web Tools (/tools): Preferences stay in browser storage on that device. The EPUB reader keeps the books you import in a browser database on that device only.
• Games (/games): Progress, records, and sound preferences stay in that browser.
• Listening Rooms (/listen and /fiction): Playback position, speed, and theme stay in that browser. Audio and text stream from public GitHub URLs when you press play.
• NS Marks The Spot browser map: Maps you import, saved setups, and any position this device reports stay in that browser. Map tiles and layer data are fetched from the public sources named in each layer's attribution; those requests carry only the ordinary information any web request carries. Tax-sale listings never show owner names. The Poker pocket at /poker keeps address search, driveway traces, and its offline pack in that browser only; no resident names. Aerial imagery is not stored offline. Clearing this site's data removes it.
